Bridge of Stories

Twelve voices—six from India, six from Italy—converge in Bridge of Stories. Masterfully edited by Sumana Roy and Matteo Trevisani, this bilingual anthology showcases debut fiction that is raw, poetic, and unflinching.

From India, we encounter the gritty realism of Muddasir Ramzan as he intrepidly portrays the tragic consequences of war in Kashmir. Vighnesh Hampapura’s prose is a haunting meditation on faith and identity, while Abhijit Khandkar’s stunning storytelling ignites the page. Rakhi Dalal relates a tale of poignant sweetness, Madhurima Vidyarthi explores the rain-evoked lilt of homecoming, and Suhasini Patni paints a world permeated with a constant undercurrent of taste.

On the Italian side, Filippo Ferraresi crafts a dreamlike tapestry where children and Brazilian filmmakers intertwine. Ilaria Gradassi’s haunting black fable casts a spell with its dark magic, while Flavio Natale's existential journey unfolds on a solitary road. Eleonora Daniel delves into the complexities of motherhood and myth, Sharon Vanoli’s intimate voice leaves an indelible mark, and Francesco Quaranta takes us on a wild ride through a world of drunken escapades and open roads.

Translated seamlessly between English and Italian, Bridge of Stories is a literary adventure exploring the shared human experiences that transcend geographical boundaries.

Sumana Roy is the author of two works of nonfiction, How I Became a Tree and Provincials, as well as Missing: A Novel, My Mother’s Lover and Other Stories, and two collections of poems, Out of Syllabus and VIP: Very Important Plant.

Matteo Trevisani is a writer. Born in San Benedetto del Tronto in 1986, he is the publishing director of Mercurio and an editor at Edizioni di Atlantide, with which he published Libro dei fulmini (2017), Libro del Sole (2019, premio Comisso under 35) and Libro del sangue (2021). He writes for several newspapers, including La Lettura del Corriere della Sera. He periodically teaches courses at the Scuola Holden, where he focuses on genealogy and the history of magic. He lives and works in Rome.
